I remember reading on the ABC News website a few months back about a market gardener in Indiana or Ohio growing purple brussel sprouts and then shipping them to upscale restaurants all over the United States.

Are there really such a thing as purple brussel sprouts? If so, where can I buy the seed for them?

The sprouts you mention are actually an heirloom variety and have recently been rediscovered. They're called Rubine, mature in 85 days, and are available from Swallowtail Seeds, 122 Calistoga Road #178, Santa Rosa, CA 95409. Phone 800-723-1771.
