I have thought about growing Mums to sell in the Fall. Where can I get information to start this project. I have never done this; however, I have marvelous soil and a large garden. I see people in the area growing these in their garden and then they have them out to sell at the end of summer. What would I need to start this, how would I purchase the plants (are they grown from seed or cuttings?) Please tell me where I can find literature on this.
Thank you.

Mums are usually grown from cuttings purchased in the spring. The large wholesalers who supply the cuttings (which are often of patented varieties)generally offer information and support to growers. Since you would be doing this as a business, I would suggest you contact your county extension (Lockport office 433-6731, Niagara Falls office 278-8131) for information about growing mums on a large scale. They may also be able to help you locate cuttings, supplies and equipment. Good luck with your project!
