The Q&A Archives: Tomato Planting Dates

Question: When would be an appropriate time to plant tomatoes in central Texas?

Answer: Roy,

Around mid March is about right. By then the average frost date is just past, but there is still a little danger of a late frost. Some folks wait till late March to be on the safe side. Just don't wait too long or your tomatoes will not have time to grow, set fruit and ripen it before the onset of really hot weather that shuts down fruit set.
