How do I get rid of or keep thick moss from growing in my planter areas? |
Moss growth is a sign that growing conditions in the flower bed are good for moss (too acidic, very moist, compacted soil, shady, etc.). The first step is to change these conditions so that your flowers will compete better with the moss. Have your soil tested (you can use a home test to determine pH - Burpee sells one) and correct the pH with with amendments based on your findings. Or improve drainage and soil structure with raised beds, do what you can to get more sun in the area, and hopefully that will take care of it. Best of luck! |
