The Q&A Archives: Planting Forced Bulbs

Question: Can any forced bulb be planted in fall to bloom in spring? Jamcan London, ONT

Answer: Bulbs forced in media rather than in water can be planted in the fall if, after flowering, they are allowed to grow until the foliage withers. Fertilization after flowering enhances the buildup of energy reserves for future growth. Once the foliage dies back, store in a cool, dry dark place until planting in the fall.
