I have 3-year-old raised beds with "good" soil. What specific amendments should I add and should they be added spring and fall when I plant? Thank you. |
One of the best ways to renew and rejuvenate soils is to add organic matter. Organic matter breaks down eventually, and as its doing so, it releases nutrients to plant roots. I spread a 2"-3" layer of aged compost over my raised beds each spring and dig it in to a depth of 6"-8" prior to planting. The soil becomes light in texture and crumbly and my plants love it! |
