According to "The Seed Starters Handbook" by Nancy Bubel impatiens should be started two and one half months before the last frost. Seeds take about 15-20 days to germinate at 70 to 75 degrees F. Seeds need light to germinate so should be left uncovered. Provide good air circulation as impatiens is susceptible to damping off disease.
