I am building raised beds and one of the sources of information I can not find for planting vegetables is the depth they required. This is important in building my raised beds as I do not want them to grow into the soil below the raised bed depth.

A general guideline is that most vegetable roots need about 12 inches of depth to perform their best. 18 inches would be even better to provide good drainage.
