Ornamental grasses may be cut in the fall after frost or in the spring, very early, before they start to grow again. If you wait too late in the spring, there is a risk of trimmng off the tips of the new growth accidently. Some gardeners like to see the grasses in the garden over the winter, others think they look untidy and prefer to cut them back in the fall. It is a matter of personal preference.
