What is the average depth a bulb needs to be planted? I'm considering purchasing an attachment to my DR Trimmer which will dig bulb holes for me but only to a depth of 5 inches. Is this deep enough for tulips and the like?

It's a big shallow for the larger bulbs such as tulip and daffodil. As a general guideline, holes should for tulips be dug three times as deep as the bulb is tall. It would work for smaller bulbs though, such as crocus.
