The Q&A Archives: Growing Moonflowers and Calla from Seed

Question: Do you have any hints on growing moonflowers started from seed? Mine have about 2 to 3 leaves already. And what about calla which I have started indoors and are about 6 inches tall? I live in upstate New York on the shore of Lake Ontario. Thank You Marty

Answer: Give moonflowers plenty of sunshine, a good rich deep soil, an occasional feeding, and something to climb on. Except for something to climb on, callas kind of like the same treatment. Toward the end of your season, decrease the watering to the callasto allow them to dry out, and lift the tubers to store them over the winter.
