Please help have average soil for my area( + ph)can i direct sow my amaranthus seed in mid-may? |
Amaranthus will not tolerate any frost at all and needs a warm soil temperature of about 75 degrees in order to germinate, so it is difficult to give you a precise date. It does well in "average to poor" meaning not overly rich soil. If your soil is clay, you may need to add organic matter and a little bit of sand to promote its air holding and drainage capacity for this and other plantings. Be sure to give it a full sun location. |
