My seedlings are being started in my laundry room, which contains the whole house return vent. Do I still need to run a fan to prevent damping off and to strengthen the stems of the seedlings?

Thank you - you are always very helpful - I couldn't have gotten as far with my gardening without you as a resouce!

We're happy to be of service! Seedlings need good air circulation all around them to prevent the fungal disease called damping off. If there is a steady supply of air moving around the room, you won't need to run a fan. Good luck with your new seedlings!
