The Q&A Archives: Pinching Chrysanthemums

Question: What is the response of Perennial CHRYSANTHEMUM to the agrotechnique PINCHING?

Answer: Pinching plants back will promote bushy growth. You'll have many branching stems coming from the stems you pinch back. Once flower buds form you can promote larger flowers by pinching out all but the largest flower bud at the top of each stem.
