Answer: There are many attractive shrubs for shady sites. Try Buxus (boxwood), Daphne odora (winter daphne), Euonymus fortunei, Gaultheria or azalea. Or, consider some of the taller spreading groundcovers such as vinca minor (grows to about 10" in height), Houttuynia cordata, or Galium odoratum (sweet woodruff).
