The Q&A Archives: Rose Leaves with Holes

Question: I am having some problems with a climbing rose bush. The leaves seem to be getting eaten by something. I am finding leaves with holes

Answer: It's hard to say what's causing the problem with your rose leaves. It may be a disease or insect, but without either seeing the leaf or insects, I can't really recommend a spray to use. Be sure your roses are mulched and in a spot with morning sun and good air circulation to prevent disease spores from growing. Check to find the insect and let us know what you find. There are many insects such as leaf cutter bees and rose chafers that attack roses, but without knowing the insect, you can't know what spray to use.
