| Can you tell us all you know on Impatiens? My partner and I are in the state science fair and we are doing an experiment on Impatiens and our plants have wilted, percked, then wilted. We planted 6 5" stems with around 6-7 leaves. Please help us! They are constantly damp. Can you answer this by March 3? Thanks. |
| I'm sorry it is after March 3. Based on your description, it sounds like the root system (or newly forming roots if these were cuttings) were unable to take up water as fast as needed, hence the loss of turgidity. Sometimes increasing the ambient humidity can help in this situation. That is why cuttings are often enclosed in a clear plastic bag or under a clear plastic dome. It also helps to protect the plants from drying winds -- or drafts indoors, especially a warm draft from a heater. Since this is a project, I would not presume to do all the work for you.
