The Q&A Archives: Plant Care

Question: I bought a Dischidia varg. 'Heart' Is it a succulent? How to care for it. Any info on this plant would be helpful.

Answer: Dischidia is from the Phillipines. It's a vining plant that produces two types of leaves: small, ovate foliage leaves and large, mussel-shaped saccate leaves. In nature, the saccate leaves are inhabited by a symbiotic colony of ants.
It's a tropical epiphyte. Care is very similar to Staghorns; provide partial shade and moisten the growing medium when it becomes dry.
