| Hello, I have an oregano plant growing in my kitchen. It is not directly in the window but across the room from the window. The suns shines directly on it, from about 10 am to 3pm. the plant is straggly looking the stems are almost woodly feeling and thin. I have new shoots gorwing out of the plant everywhere along the stems, but the stems seem to be dying off. What can I do? I've had this plant since last summer and I really don't want to lose it. | If possible, move it up closer to the window in the brightest location you have. The new shoots are probably a response to the longer daylength, and the plant is showing a need for increased light. To encourage bushiness rather than elongated growth, pinch back the tips and cut back some of the longer stems. It is also possible that there is a fungal infection of some sort, so trimming back and thinning out the plant, removing any discolored portions, and increasing air circulation might also help. |
