The Q&A Archives: Planting Lilies

Question: Are there any lily bulbs that can be planted as late as June 15? I'd love to use lily bulbs as a wedding-guest favor for a June 8 wedding. Could people still plant their bulbs that late?

Answer: Lily bulbs (lilium) are usually planted as soon as they become available because they do not keep well outside the ground, especially under home storage conditions. As an alternative, you might try gladiolus corms instead since they keep better and can also be planted through June.
