The Q&A Archives: Kalanchoe Leaves with Brown Spots

Question: I have brown spots on some of my kalanchoes...what is wrong..and is there something I can do to help them bloom? Thank you. Jamcan London, ONT

Answer: Spotting of the leaves could be caused by a watering problem. Kalanchoes like moderate moisture (their thick leaves store water well) and even prefer to be watered from below by placing the pot in a bowl of water until the soil is moistened. The plantsneed special care to promote flowering: 4 to 6 weeks of only 8 to 10 hours a day of light (this includes indoor light).
