Most should perform fine for you. Choose vegetable varieties that mature in the fewest number of days since you have a short growing season. If water is an issue, avoid flowers that are native to woodlands and require consistently moist soil conditions. Some easy to grow flowers that thrive in hot sunny locations include zinnia, coreopsis, cosmos, tithonia, gaillardia, and vinca.
