I have a tree that was damaged in the last winter storm we had with wet snow. The weight of the snow
ripped two branches off and the trunk has been split. Is there any method I could use to save the rest of the
the tree from splitting anymore?

Unfortunately, a split trunk is usually not reparable in the long run, and if the tree manages to heal the area it will remain a weak point in the structure of the tree. You might wish to consult with a professionally trained and certified arborist to see if anything can be done at this point to save the tree. I'm sorry I can't be more encouraging.
