I have several areas of standing water on my property, because of there location and the contour of the property it is imposible to fill them. I am looking for plants/ trees, etc. to plant near, or in these areas that would help absorb the standing water. Also, there is a lot of clay in the soil.

Some plants to consider for heavy moist soil would include red maple (Acer rubrum), river birch (Betula nigra "Heritage"), the shrub dogwoods, aronia arbutifolia, ilex verticillata, summersweet clethra, itea, and the evergreen ilex glabra.
