How can I get rid of poison ivy. I have heard there is a way to spray it with salt water. What I would like to know is what is the proportion of salt to water, and what kind of salt? |
Unfortunately spraying it with salt water would not be recommended, in part because most plants are sensitive to salt in the soil and the accumulation could cause your garden problems when you try to grow something else in its place. Instead, you can try smothering it over time with a heavy layer of newspapers covered with mulch, or you can treat it with an herbicide containing glyphosate and in a formulation listing poison ivy on the label. Be careful to observe the timing and temperature instructions as well as follow all of the label instructions. Poison ivy is a tenacious plant and it may require more than one application to achieve eradication. |
