The Q&A Archives: Should Tomato's Be Pruned?

Question: Should tomato's be pruned?

Answer: Tomato pruning is a matter of individual preference. In some cases the plants grow too large or too heavy for their support, or need increased air circulation due to a damp season or fungal infection, or need increased light in the inner reaches due to a cloudy season. Too, some gardeners will prune to root the pruned off suckers and start new plants. Some gardeners routinely prune with good results, other gardeners rarely if ever prune, also with good results.
