What is the best method for sterlizing previously used pots before using for planting new house plants?

You can wash them in hot soapy water, then rinse in warm water and allow to air dry. Some gardeners add a little household bleach to the rinse water, for added insurance. If there were diseased plants in the pots, you might want to add bleach. If not, hot, soapy water will be just fine.
