| For raised beds, you would need to know the size of bed you want and then figure out the amount of material you need. Many lumber yeards and garden centers sell the wood-like material made from recycled plastic. (One brand name is Trex.) If you have the dimensions, they can help you figure out how much to buy just as you would measure for using wooden boards. Kits for premeasured raised beds are also available. Burpee, for example, offers a kit for a 4 foot by four foot raised bed made of Novawood in the current catalog.
