The Q&A Archives: Annuals

Question: In your newsletter you talk about self-sowing annuals. What are they - types. I have a mostly shady area, early morning and early evening sun only.

Answer: Self sowing annuals for shade might include forget me nots, violas (some may perennialize), and honesty (lunaria) although it is technically a biennial. You might also consider some perennials for such an area such as hostas, ferns, pulmonaria, Solomon's Seal and tiarella.
