LAST SUMMER BOUGHT SEVERAL VARIETIES OF HOSTAS AT GARDEN CENTER. NONE BLOOMED. WHY NOT?

There are several possible reasons why they would not bloom for you the first year. One is that they had already bloomed before you bought them (some plants are started into growth unseasonably early and will bloom extra early as a result), another is that they used their energy in becoming established and had none left over for blooming. Older more established clumps are heavier bloomers than new plants, so expect to see blooms this summer.
