| I've been told these are everbloomers. What does that mean? Does it bloom constantly? It's tall and not too bushy so I want to try and prune it. Will this help with the width of the plant? When should I prune this plant and how do I go about doing it with out damaging the next bloom? |
| Jasminum sambac, the Arabian jasmine is an evergreen shrub with delightfully fragrant flowers which are used for making perfume and are a favorite flower for Hawaiian leis. In Asia the flowers are added to tea to make jasmine tea. Your plant will bloom off and on all year around, with the most pronounced blooming during the spring and summer months. All jasmines should be pinched back regularly to control growth and encourage additional flowers. Sounds as though yours is overdue for some pruning. You can reduce the size gradually by cutting back a few stems at a time throughout the growing season until they're all about the same height. Pinching out the growing tips will make it bushy. You'll sacrifice some blooms during this process of renovation but the end result will be a compact shrub with lots of fragrant blossoms. |
