| I am being over run with skeleton weed. How can I get rid of it? |
| Skeletonweed is a member of the sunflower family. It's a perennial growing up to 18" with erect stems which are finely grooved and branched. It's common along roadsides, pastures and waste areas. It's also immune to most herbicides, making control very difficult. The best solution isn't always the easiest - cut the plants down at soil level and recut when new shoots appear. If you keep at it, you'll eventually starve out the roots. An important aspect of weed control is to keep them from flowering and forming seeds. Cut the weeds down as soon as they appear and you'll eventually get the upper hand! |
