I would like to start a persimmon grove and need to start seeds, I understand that stratification is necessary to jump start this process. What process is best and the specific timetable necessary to follow?

Seed stratification is simple - just mix the seeds with moist peat in a plastic bag, and refrigerate them for two to three months. If you re starting your grove with the hopes of producing fruit for market, you re better off purchasing nursery stock, since persimmons grown from seed yield mixed results, and six years (til they bear) is a long time to wait for those results! If you re growing them as landscape trees or in the spirit of gardening adventure, then have fun!
