I want to border a 4 foot fence with informal 4-5 foot evergreen shrubs. It needs to be a fast grower and if possible dense. I would like flowers or berries but that is not a must. The area reveives full sun all day and the soil retains water. I need to cover about 39 feet of fencing so it also needs to be economical. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, most evergreens are both slower growing and thus relatively expensive plants, they also tend to grow rather large. For a smaller evergreen for an informal hedge in moist soil and full sun you might try the native holly, Ilex glabra. This shrub's naturally billowy outline makes a lovely informal hedge.
