Will the root system of a weeping cherry destroy my sidewalk or foundation? |
The root system of any tree extends at least as wide as the top branch pattern, as usually wider. When planting any tree it is wise to allow for ample room for both the roots and the top growth so it will not block foot traffic on a walk or rub against a building. Weeping trees in particular can do this as they reach near the ground as well as spreading outward widely. You may want to verify the anticipated mature size of the tree prior to planting it; there are larger and smaller varieties of weeping cherry. |
