The Q&A Archives: Peat Moss In Soil

Question: Does soil contain peat moss?

Answer: Peat moss is mined from peat bogs so it would not appear in soil in this area naturally. Many commercially formulated potting mixes, especially those that are "soilless" contain peat moss however. It is also occasionally used as a soil amendment in preparing a planting bed.
