Answer: This plant is actually a rather large tree. I suspect that cutting it off at this point might kill it but if it managed to resprout at the base, then you could pinch it back regularly to control the size for at least a while. It would also be difficult to root the tip cutting, but if the alternative is to discard the plant it is always worth a try, I think. You might try using a rooting hormone for the cutting, setting the pot inside a clear plastic bag (to maintain humidity) in a bright location but out of direct sun and using some gentle bottom heat. Open the bag periodically to allow for air circulation and do not fertilize until some sturdy roots have formed. Have fun with your tree(s)!
