What kind of ivy grows best on a brick wall? I have a 6' painted brick wall in my backyard that I think Ivy growing on it would look rather nice.

I have tried english ivy with no luck.

Thanks, kk

English ivy or Hedera helix should grow on a brick wall, it is the evergreen type we often see. This plant can take a year or two to become established and then will possibly grow faster than you would like. During the establishment phase it appreciates ample water, subsequently it is fairly drought tolerant. The English ivy would do especially well on a north or east facing wall.
