Do Forsythia bushes get diseases or fungus? A friend has a beautiful Forsythia bush I wanted to take a cutting from to start my own. He pointed out to me these growths along the stems of the plant. What are these? If it is a disease, how should it be treated?

Unfortunately, "unusual looking things" could be anything from a gall to a harmless praying mantis case and it is very difficult to diagnose them long distance. You might want to take a sample to your county extension (625-0056) for a definite identification and suggested steps to take, if any are needed.
