The Q&A Archives: Vegetable Garden 30'x30'

Question: Poor ground absorption. Garden floods.

Answer: Many low lying areas are prone to excess moisture especially in the spring, and poor draining soil can be a problem all during the season. You have several options. One is to relocate the garden to higher ground, another would possibly be build raised beds if the flooding is not too severe. Yet another would be to change the runoff pattern in the surrounding area to direct the excess water elsewhere. This last would require assistance from a landscape architect or engineer with professional training in drainage and water management.
