Bonsai is a specialized form of gardening and the plants need daily care and attention. Bonsai have very specialized care requirements and these will vary depending on both the type of plant and the form to which it is being trained. In terms of day to day care, the soil should be kept slightly moist but not soggy so you may need to water daily if the soil mix is free draining and the pot is very small. For some types of plant, seasonal care includes a controlled chilling period to simulate winter, after which the plant will come back into active growth.

You might want to look at a book or two about the
general care of bonsais to see if you can meet the plant's cultural needs. You might also look at the American Bonsai Society web site: http://www.absbonsai.org/ for information about bonsai. They also have
several publications available to help you. Enjoy your plant!
