I recently purchased Chinese cabbage seeds, but there are no instructions on how and where to grow them. I have looked in all of my books and I can't find any planting information for Chinese cabbage. I need to know as much as possible, as this is the first time I have tried to grow this vegetable. |
Chinese cabbage culture is similar to that of other Oriental greens. The plants prefer cooler weather and are best grown in early spring. Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep, keep the bed uniformly moist, and cover the bed with a fabric row cover to keep insects away. Thin seedlings to 12 inches apart and harvest heads as soon as they mature to avoid bolting. |
