No matter where they are grown, vegetables require regular moisture. So if rainfall is insufficient, it must be supplemented in the garden. Heat is less of a problem, as many vegetables thrive in the heat, and are grown as commercial crops in places like Arizona, Florida, and Mexico. But, they are irrigated. When reading variety descriptions, look for those that say something about "heat tolerant." Also, choose varieties that mature in the least amount of time.
