I was most interested in the Johnny Appleseed Heritage Apple tree developed from the last remaining tree planted by Johnny Appleseed in Ohio-I believe it was a Rebel variety. I wondered if you know of sources where this may be available as well as any type of heritage trees.

A plant source database search turned up 793 different apples but nothing called Rebel or Johnny Appleseed. Seed Savers Exchange offers a book that lists over 300 nursery catalogs that specialize in heritage fruit, berries and nuts. Their catalog says over 1200 historic apple varieties are listed. Seed Savers is at 3076 North Winn Road, Decorah, IA 52101, 319-383-5990.
