I have a spirea bush (4 yrs old) and it has gotten huge. Can I cut it back now, in the spring, or should I wait until it has bloomed? It has already started to bud. It will be covered in little white flowers in about a month.

Prune spring-blooming spiraea after flowers have bloomed. You can cut wood that has bloomed down to the ground. Summer-blooming spiraea are pruned in late winter/early spring before new growth starts. Yours sounds like a spring-bloomer, so wait until it has finished or you will lose the blossoms!
