Please tell me what to use to spray the apple trees so the apples don't become full of worms and the gypsy moths won't nest. Thank you. |
Apple trees need a regular program of spraying and it must be done according to the correct timing (depending on the weather)in order for it to be effective -- often it begins in winter so you may be a bit late for this season. Some varieties also have better resistance than others, so some of your spraying (or not spraying) will also depend on that. You might want to contact your local County Extension (349-1427)for their local recommended spray regime for the kind of apples you are growing. In addition, good sanitation is important in controlling diseases and pests. Make sure to do a thorough clean up of fallen fruit and leaves as well as prunings to help reduce the change of carrying over problems from one year to the next. |
