The Q&A Archives: Chilean Jasmine Requirements

Question: What soil is required for mandevilla laxa and what light exposure does it require? What zone is it suited to survive?

Answer: Mandevilla laxa, or Chilean jasmine is a deciduous vine, twining to 15' or more. Provide full sun and rich, moist soil. Prune it down to the ground in the winter or it will become a tangled mess. The plant is hardy to about 15F. If winter weather threatens to dip that low in your garden, place a protective mulch over the roots of your plant.
