I have been browsing gardening sites looking for some new perennials and shrubs. I keep seeing sites that sell products "bareroot". What exactly would I be getting if I ordered this?

Bare root plants are shipped without soil. They have been dug up while dormant and have had the soil removed from around their roots. They are shipped dormant so you receive a leafless plant. It can seem intimidating at first, but this is a successful method.
