Planting Shrubs, Flowers Or Small Ornamental Trees Underneath Very Very Tall Pine Trees - Knowledgebase Question

Can I plant a flower bed and small ornamentals trees underneath very tall pine trees. I'm concerned about the pine needle's dropping and causing growing problems for the shrubs flowers and smaller trees underneath????

Unfortunately, this is a difficult growing environment for most plants. The pines will have acidified the soil with their needles over the years as well as easily outcompete other plants for nutrients, water, sunlight and air. You might be able to plant colorful annuals in containers if you would like to add some color in that area.
