What are the specifics for proper care of a Brugmansia arborea? Our summers are very hot. I've never heard of this plant. It is just beautiful. Couldn't resist buying it. |
Commonly called Angel's Trumpet because of their enormous tubular flowers. They take sun or shade, but protection from hot afternoon sun would be best, as well as protection from strong winds. They need regular water during their growing and blooming season, so water slowly and deeply to wet the entire root system. Put a layer of mulch around the base to help maintain soil moisture. They can get very large, so plant where it has room to spread. They are also frost-sensitive, but will come back in the spring. Cut back in early spring after all danger of frost is past. Note that the flowers and seeds are poisonous. |
